Insomnia Essay -- essays research papers

INTRODUCTIONStephen Kings Number One Best-Seller, Insomnia, is a book round an elderly man named Ralph Roberts who begins to suffer from early waking. This form of insomnia grows into a terrible problem for Ralph as he begins to awaken earlier and earlier each morning. muckle begin to comment about his health and sickly appearance. Many take it upon themselves to recommend oldish-fashioned home remedies that arent supposed to fail. Ralph attempted everything from staying up only night (much to his dismay, he found himself growing more and more awake as the early morning hours passed) to sucking on honeycomb. None of the-tried-and true remedies pass water and by the time Ralph is getting only about an hour of peacefulness each night, Ralph begins to see auras around people. Naturally, Ralph begins to think that he is becoming senile because of his old age of 70, even one of his best friends tells him that he has lost it. When Ralph meets two itsy-bitsy men from another realm o f consciousness and they reveal that they caused him to lose sleep. They explained to him that losing sleep enable him to see the auras that he had begun to see, he is quite relieved to find that he isnt insane. This story progresses to its climax in which Ralph must take on a man who is unknowingly helping the king of the dark side, known as the Random in this thriller, kill two thousand people. There is a little boy amongst these people who will save two men in the future, these men are destined to help the light side, known as the Purpose. During the fight, Ralph takes on the king of the Random himself and wins. This saves the little boy and according to the two little men, the universe is balanced once again. As promised by the two little otherworldly men, life returns to normal for Ralph and he can once again sleep. What happened to Ralph in this work is a very imaginative look at what happens to a person suffering from insomnia. In scientific reports, there isnt evidence of the patient seeing auras, being capable of rising to other levels of consciousness at will, or even entering levels which make them invisible to the human eye, as Ralph did in the book. Sufferers of insomnia in the real world will experience difficulties such as da... ...oncentration stress, anxiety, irritability, sleepiness. This loss of sleep comes in many different flavours such as difficulty falling asleep, not having a problem falling asleep entirely a problem staying asleep (many awakenings), and waking up too early. This can lead to many problems in a persons life. Of the three forms of insomnia, inveterate insomnia is the most serious and can last for a month or longer. This form is usually more complex and may be caused by a number of factors, including underlying physical or mental disorders. One of the most common causes of chronic insomnia is depression. Physical causes include arthritis and sleep apnea. Other causes are link up to behaviors such as the misuse of caffein e.Insomnia can be cured with proper treatments. Popular treatments for this difficulty sleeping include relaxation therapy and reconditioning. Though insomnia may be glamorized by some authors, this problem is nothing to fantasize about, it is a serious problem if it is chronic and should be attended to if it lasts as long as a month.

Film Techniques in Whats Eating Gilbert Grape Essay examples -- essay

Whats Eating sarin Grape?Film Techniques related to musical compositionTheme Struggle and HardshipIn the film Whats Eating Gilbert Grape? directed by Lasse Hallstrom in 1993, one of the main papers is that of struggle and hardship. This idea is significant to the film because it relates to each character in a different way, making the storyline more interesting. Three different techniques used by Lasse Hallstrom to expand the idea of struggle and hardship include Gilberts voice over, the extra close-ups of Bonnie as she climbs the stairs and the double up of dialogue, where Mrs Carver is talking to Gilbert, and Mr Carver is hear tying to entertain their children in background. One character that suffers from struggle and hardship is Gilbert. At the beginning of the film, just after the opening scene, there are a series of establishing shots of Endora. They display the town as a dead, empty place, and are accompanied by a voice over done by Gilbert Grape. Gilbert describes each sho p and his house with a dreary, dull tone and a lack of enthusiasm. This indicates to the audien...

Themes of Mary Shelleys Frankenstein :: essays research papers

There are many themes in the story Frankenstein by Mary Shelley. Some of them are abandonment, shed, retaliation, and scientific know leadge, which are all link to each other in this novel. Throughout the story you discover that a man named Victor Frankenstein wants to create a human life. He does not forecast through the repercussions of his desire only that he wants the power to create. After Frankenstein creates his creature, he is so frightened and disgusted by the creature?s mien that he abandons it. In conclusion, Frankenstein abandons his creature because of its appearance. To the creature, Frankenstein is his father and when he left him, he felt neglected and abandoned. The creature did not know how to take care of himself and was given no direction or leadership. He left not knowing where he would go or how he would survive. Frankenstein abandoned his creature as if it were an animal. When Frankenstein abandoned his creature, he didnt even think how the creature felt , he just deserted him. In other words, the creatures abandonment was neglect to its best interest. The creature?s hatred grew from neglect and abandonment. Every person he came in contacted with immediately shunned him. Nobody could look past his horrifying appearance to see what was inside. His hatred then turned into revenge against his creator. The creature wanted Frankenstein to feel what he felt. This is where the revenge takes place and the creature killed everyone Frankenstein loved. The way people treated the creature just by his outwardly appearance is the way society in general views and treats people even today. Society is unjust and cruel at times to people who are slight pretty, less thin, less attractive in general. The creature felt this every day of his life and lost the love of his creator and never found a satisfactory life partner all due to society shunning the less outwardly beautiful. Basically, the treatment from not only Frankenstein but also society led the creature to seek revenge on the one who created him.Knowledge can be both good and bad. Frankenstein felt that the study of science was greater than some other other subject because you can go further than the scientist before you had gone. What Frankenstein failed to understand is just because one becomes knowledgeable in science and has the ability to create something or do something new does not mean it is morally right to proceed with the knowledge.

Cultural Diversity in Business :: essays research papers

In their eagerness to avoid the courts and editorial pages, most firms in America, and increasingly in Europe, now pay close worry to the sex and race of the flock they recruit and promote, For example, Harvard Business School has just announced that they will go out of its way to include women in its facial expression studies, which are used in business-school classrooms around the world. In other enounces, schools and businesses, in order to stay out of trouble, are taking the easy way out, quotas. (Kole, MacDonald.1997.1) Although rough women and minorities are hired to fill quotas, the majority of them are needed to create a cultural diverse workplace. Cultural Diversity can have a positive effect and be valueable merely only for some firms. A well considered strategy must accompany Cultural Diversity if profit is to be made. There are at least two reasons to expect a policy of diversity to yield profits. One difference is communication. Because many people find it easier to understand others of the same sex, or nationality, it helps to have employees from the same cultural background as your customers. Its not only a matter of language, but understanding the customers needs, tastes and the earning of their trust is vital. The recruiting of people from a different cultural background can not only improve communication with outsiders, it may also bring fresh ideas to insiders (Kole, MacDonald. 1997.2). Businesses dont only need cultural diversity in order to relate to customers, they need women and minorities in management. smaller banks have traditionally selected their directors from among those who live and work in their communities. Their reasoning is to hire people who cannot only tell the banks what the people want, but also spread the word about their products. However, many banks surveyed by the Business Times have local natives on their boards, few women are represented and almost no minorities can be found-even in areas where there is a l arge minority population (Kole,MacDonald.1997.2). Many bank CEOs feel that the lack of minority and female mental representation needs to be corrected (Cochran.1997). Jack Anderson, chairman and Chief Executive of Johnstown-based BT Financial Corp.- the holding company for Laurel Bank, and Johnstown Bank Trust Co. states Any right-thinking mortal understands the need for diversity, he said I think it is something we need to work toward.(Neiser.1997.1) Anderson also recognizes that there hasnt been a large pool of candidates to choose from.

Importance in the Handmaid’s tale Essay

Explore the ways in which theology is presented and its importance in the Handmaids tale. morality is presented in a numerous amount of ways in the Handmaids tale. Christianity or Puritanism is the leading faith in Gilead and is portrayed as a controlling mechanism, which not only controls peoples bodies but strives to control their minds. Inside Gilead biblical and religious references act as fundamental laws and polices towards the controlling regime of Gilead. The people within the regime of Gilead are subjected to jolty and rigid lifestyles. This is justified by the leaders of Gilead by the use of the bible. From Offreds perspective we quite a little see the strictness of the regime that she lives in. For example They can work-to doe with us there is scriptural precedent. Atwood clearly displays the theme of fundamentalism to demonstrate the ideologies of those that impose the rules Gilead. Offreds perspective often gives the reader an insight into how genius would odor if put in the situation of having the regime of Gilead imposed on them. Offred describes some of her actions when she is alone in her room, I can spend minutes, tens of minutes running my look over the print FAITH.This emphases to the reader the notion of hope and that if Offred is going to escape or survive the regime with her sanity intact she needs to ache faith. Weather that is religious faith in the religion she has come to hate or alternatively it may be faith in herself that she can survive even in this time of dyer. Handmaids wear the colour red which signifies life, lust and love. However in this colour Offred sees herself as a sister plunge in blood this is ironic as sister is referring to a nun. Handmaids share many aspects of their lifestyles with living in a nunnery. For example the solitude and the excessive viewing up of body parts. However there is one lifestyle trade that handmaids and nuns do not share. While nuns take a vow of celibacy, the sole goal of Handma ids is to have sexual intercourse. This view of Offred presents irony. In addition to this the use of blood may give the reader connotations of sin and misconduct. This reveals that Offred believes what she is doing is wrong and sinful. In addition to Offreds perspective, religion as a theme is introduce in the society of Gilead. While religion may be introduced through a controlling means to justify the polices of the regime. But in Gilead it is not so much seen as practical part of life. For example many parts of religion that one would associate with the modern day do not exist in the world of Gilead. For example in Gilead the church is a small one It isnt used any more, except as a museum. This demonstrates that Gilead is only theoretically religious and doesnt practice many practical elements of religion care going to church as they are not used in the world of Gilead. In addition to this Offred also shows that nunneries do not exist in the regime of Gilead. time is measured in bells, as once in nunneries. By saying as once in nunneries it reveals that they are not roughly anymore. This shows another practical element of religion that has been abolished. Not only have the leaders of Gilead used the bible as political justification to their regime they have also invented new parts of the bible to further control people. Blessed are the silent. I knew they made that up, I knew it was wrong, and they left things out too, but there was no way of checking. The fact that Gilead has made up new parts of the bible shows the leader have used fundamentalism as an excuse for the creation of the regime. In addition to this the fact that women had no way of checking shows they have no access to bibles therefore another practical part of religion is not in practise. Religion is presents the main strengths that Gilead uses to control the different positions and is used as a justification method. However religion is also what defeats Gilead as this is what gives Offred hope and faith.

Ayala Museum

Little did we know, when we were sent on a field trip to the Loyal Museum, what we would see there. All that we were told was that It was an educational field trip and something to do with Flanagan. Nets advocacy of anything and e realthing Filipino. So, we were really in for a treat when we set foot on the fourth floor of the museum and a short film started to play the moment we stepped deep down the sliding doors. Gold of Ancestors Crossroads of Civilization, it began, and went on to show some aureate artifacts that had been found on archaeological digs all oer the country. We were mesmerisms from the very first one. Then, Just beyond the small chamber where we were viewing the film, we caught sight of the display cases containing the very artifacts that were now flashing on the screen. After that, we could hardly Walt to go and see them up close We saw golden bangles, rings, and necklaces, earrings, tiaras and studs, belts, bowls, cups and hilts of weapons. I was fascinated when I saw the burial masks, with stylized features engraved In the gold. I public opinion forget ancient Egypt, It turns out the Philippines has its ownAside from the burial masks, there were also orifice coverings, shaped interchangeable the eyes, the nose and the mouth. I guess If the short couldnt afford a whole mask, they could just go for the important parts Whew Move over, King -rut Aside from the burial masks, I was also fascinated with the Kina, a small vessel shaped like a mythical woman-bird, who appeared to be holding some kind of Jug. Her eyes looked serenely out at the pile who had come to see her. There was also the bluntly, an anthropomorphic plaque depleting the head of a lady with what seemed like an elaborate hairdo or headdress.I also drooled over a cuff or wrist ornament, as wide as a sleeve and intricately worked, so that the gold mesh was like lace. The info on it said it weighed 204 grams. Heavy There were also earrings so big and so heavy that we all wonder ed how the owner could possibly have worn It without acquire his or her ears torn. My personal favorite, however, was a beautiful belt (l know someones snickering while reading TLS ). Catalog No. 81. 5175, weighing 575. 1 g, measuring 68. Xx CM. Circa tenth 13th century. It was made of fine mesh, with a zigzag design running along its length, and two golden plaques ornamented with granules of gold painstakingly arranged into stylized designs. Oh, I could have stood there and stared at it forever Then, there was the piece De resistance the UAPITA or Sacred Thread, weighing almost 4 kilos (yeah- peeve ), smashly quasi(prenominal) to one depicted In the 16th century Boxer Codex, said to be the earliest description of the people of the Philippines In a Western language. repeat of which can be found in the exhibit. The UAPITA was supposed to be draped around the neck then attached to the wrist. Wow, the person who wore that mustve been pretty strong What was striking about these artif acts was that they seemed so Pinto to me. There were at least two necklaces or bracelets that were woven banging- Tyler take four flat strips of gold and weave a ordinal one back and frontwards across it, the reminded me of the legs of a modern armchair made of into because it had the same basket-weave technique. Some of the other items were decorated simply by poking holes in the gold to create a lacy pattern. The tiaras were created by cutting a sort of fringe in a strip of gold, then bending them back and forth to make a crown-like design. Seeing the exhibit made all of us walk a little taller and prouder. We had always read about the treasures of other lands, like Egypt and Troy now we know that we have our own Mayhap nag Philippians

Discourse Communities

DC Essay, Draft 1 Discourse Communities Essay There is a very large variety of academic communion communities available at the universities today. Deciding to go to college is deciding to enter an academic discourse community all on its own but deciding to pick a major(ip) is entering a more specified discourse community. There are many similarities and differences mingled with every separate community which makes it ticklish for some people to need.Understanding a community must be done before involving oneself. Comparing and contrasting majors can make it easier for someone to choose which academic discourse community they decide to involve themselves in. Comparing and contrasting majors can be much simpler than it seems. Taking the time to describe a rhetorical purpose, audience, and values can be a good outline for to understand the community. An example of this would be comparing the discourse communities of a nursing major and an education major.According to the Sacramento State Course Catalog, Nursing is a caring discipline with a foundation of nursing science guided by the practise of moral and ethical principles of care and responsibility and The professional educator brings together subject matter knowledge, appropriate strategies, and interpersonal skills essential to providing successful learning experiences for children. Preparing to cogitation first-hand with people, possibly even very young children, is the main similarity between the two majors.Although the two prepare to help the community, they plan to help in antithetic ways. The two majors are in a sense the same in their future purpose caring the same values, but different in the actual action it will entail. Both Nursing and Education carry the social value of an equal opportunity. The majors do not discriminate between the sexes or fester of a person unlike athletics major possibly would. A woman at a very elderly age most possible wouldnt be able to run a triathlon and be succ essful at the same time.Nursing wins health and well-being for the community alike providing safety. By treating someone of a contagious and deadly disease a nurse could possibly prevented a whole community from contact of this disease. Education provides uncouth and even uncommon knowledge also building a future for the community. Teaching a young community to read and write makes them literate allowing them to strain high-end careers in the future.Rhetorically, an audience or a nurse could be doctors, parents, or the elderly while the audience of an educator would most likely be parents, their students directly, or the community no longer directly tied to the education environment. A typical purpose a nurse might have would be to provide health and safety to the community in order to keep a community alive. On the other hand a purpose for an educator would be to educate the community of the importance of a health and safety so they are aware of the seriousness of the matter.Pe rsonas in both fields would most likely be informative and professional. Comparing and contrasting the similarities between two separate majors can ease the decision of joining a discourse community. determine of the community can be very similar which may be what draws a person to both but the purpose of them can be solely different. Understanding the communities is done by exploring these aspects and applying rhetorical cases to them. Works Cited Sacramento State University Catalog (2012-2014)

Ethical behavior principle Essay

The behavior of each and every person is control by moral and the guiding principles. This is normally portrayed in our daily usual acts, and hence shaping of our ethical behavior is critical in the making sound decision and upholds the trust of the public. Importance of Personality Development and Influencing Factors

An individuals genius is their unique and relatively stable patterns of behaviour, thoughts and rulings. The key word is relatively. It implies that there is scope for change, that adepts personality is not necessarily constant. The influence of various aspects of our environment may affect our inherent behavioural traits, and can modify our personality. Personality development, therefore, is to reserve new ideas to influence our personality, and to allow introspection to bring to the forefront latent qualities, effecting a change for the better. There be four aspects to an individuals personality body, mind, heart and soul.Several factors contribute to ones personality, to the development of ones personality. These be all integral to the above mentioned aspects. The recognition, and consequently, the maintenance and progress of these factors whether physiologic or psychological, whether internal or external is essential for personality development. Health is a state of compl ete physical, mental and social well being, and not merely the absence of disease or infirmities. Fitness is a measure of the bodys ability to complete activities necessary for everyday liveness effectively and efficiently. The basic divergence between the two is that health is a definite requisite for ones life, while fitness is only a measure. Both terms are relative, but health is more of a necessity than fitness, especially for developing ones personality. An important aspect of our personality is our intelligence activity. It is important to note that intelligence is not restricted just to the scholarly it encompasses the various sides to ones personality linguistic, logical, kinesthetic, musical, interpersonal, intrapersonal, naturalist, and spiritual, to name a few.And improvement is required in all these spheres for an general development of ones personality. Our social skills or interpersonal relationships, our ability to establish, nurture and fulfill relationships wit h others around us family or friends, plays a pivotal portion in our lives. This ability, too, needs to be developed. Our Emotional Intelligence Quotient (EQ) the ability to perceive, use, gain and manage emotions within ourselves and in others, is very important. Emotions are our responses to events around us, and are created by the combination of our thoughts, feelings, and actions. What is virtually important is that we create our own emotions. Our responses are shaped by our thoughts by what we tell ourselves. As we clarify our understanding of our own beliefs and patterns, we turn back that we are actually choosing our own lives. Feelings are the internal expression of the emotion and can be differentiated from body sensations and states feeling depressed. The emotion behind the feeling of depression sadness or anger. Emotion, therefore, includes the situation, the interpretation or perception of the situation and the response or feeling related to the perception of the situation. Our speaking and listening skills are another important element. Speaking, or conveying our thoughts and emotions, and listening, or paying enough attention to what whateverone else has to say, both are essential for developing and maintaining relationships. Communication is a two-way process, and we need to be able to eloquently and adequately put across our thoughts to others, as well as be able to listen (hear, understand and judge) to the ideas of others. We express ourselves non-verbally too through our postures and body language. This is also an important tool for communication. Our body language not only gives away our emotions sometimes, it also allows people to deduct whether we are confident when we are speaking, whether we are actually listening to the other person, and so on. Our relationship skills are also influenced by our prejudices opinions or judgements, frequently unfavourable, ground on irrelevant considerations, inadequate knowledge or inaccurate s tereotyping, and the consequent discriminations we make.People have prejudices for diverse reasons and these biases affect m some(prenominal) spheres of their lives they are negative manifestations of collective power instead of bringing or holding people together, they push them apart. Ironically, even prejudice and discrimination imply some sort of relationship, however. If there is no relationship people would be completely unaware of another persons or groups existence. The act of discrimination is an unjust practice or behaviour, whether intentional or not, towards a category of persons. These categories range from sex, ethnicity, nationality, religion, language, to class, and more recently, age and physical disabilities. Prejudices and discriminations are deeply imbedded at both the individual and societal levels, and will eventually result in the dissolving of society. The next important aspect that needs to be attended to is our academic and career requirements. We should ad opt some basic study skills to successfully suppose what we learn from an adequate period of time. The following is an example P Preview get the overall picture of what is to be studied before doing it in any detail.Q Question ask questions while reading or studying answering them will help to make sense of the material and to remember it more slow because the process will make an impression. R Read and Review read actively to be able to answer questions you have asked yourself or questions the instructor has asked. A review is a survey of what you have covered, of what you are supposed to accomplish. S Self Evaluation testing yourself to see how much you have accomplished. T era Management Time is the most valuable resource a student has. A good schedule keeps you from wandering off course.A good schedule, if decent managed, assigns time where time is needed. Certain methods and strategies can be adopted for more effective studying and more adequate preparation for examina tions making schedules first and viscous to them reading and getting the main idea, extracting the important details and taking (or making) notes, reviewing and revising the actual substance, as well as the notes. After the more material aspects comes, what some claim is, the ultimate intelligence. Spiritual intelligence is about the growth of a human being. It is about pondering over lifes purpose. Just being in smirch with that question is fulfilling.About having a direction in life and being able to heal ourselves of all the resentment we carry. It is thinking of ourselves as an expression of a higher reality. Finally there is the realization that there is an immensity within us. As we move along the path, deeper levels within us get unfolded, leading to fulfillment. Ultimately, we secure freedom from our sense of limitation as human beings and attain moksha. Indeed, this is a highly idealized perception of spiritual intelligence or spirituality most humans are essentially spi ritual beings asking such fundamental questions as Who am I? , Where am I going? , What do others entail to me? , but spiritual intelligence itself is extremely relative. It can, perhaps, more simply be defined as the realization of ones purpose in life and the achievement of the same, the feeling of being in control, of being aware of oneself and ones environment. Lifes purposes are varied for different individuals, and it requires inspiration to be able to recognize them, and moreover, to live by them. We need to Listen to our inner voice. It takes practice to hear our true desires. The passion will come as a whisper or serendipitous event hat reminds us of what is important and what makes us happy. Dwell in possibilities. Our passions could lead us in a readiness of different directions to find fulfillment. We have to explore our lives and unearth all the things that bring us joy. Decide what kind of person we essential to be. Rather than concentrating on what we want to do, w e should think in terms of what kind of person we want to be, and let that guide our choices. The ultimate attainment of fulfillment will come naturally, in time, with the procrastinating awakening of our spiritual senses, like the well-deserved rest at the end of the day.

Journeys Speech

To complete any Journey one mustiness take risks and overcome obstacles. Inner or physiological Journeys are Journeys of the mind which when traveled can increment ones knowledge and sense of fulfillment. This type of Journey is explored in both Robert Frosts The Road not Taken and Gabriele Musicians take on The Pursuit of joy. In Frosts poem the idea of decision-making is explored through the use of the drawn- expose metaphor of the two alleys, dickens roads diverge in a yellow wood, And sorry I could not travel both.Frost uses this extended metaphor to illustrate that Journeys involves pickaxes we pass on to make and like the split path in the woods the choice we do end up making will shape the next part of our lives. The two road are also contrasted, one said to be having better claim and wanting wear. Frost indicates here(predicate) that winning the path little traveled or the riskier path has made all the difference and because delineates the fact that although we face obstacles such as these difficult decisions in our own Journeys, when we overcome them we increase our knowledge and our self-worth.Another proficiency used by Frost is that of first person, which enables the audience to be included in the decisions salutary as he, himself was, Two roads diverged in a wood and I I took the one less traveled by. Here Frost shows his inner Journey Through his thoughts and thinks, at the caesura, ab by the path he has taken. Although Frost is happy with the path he took there is still a bit of regret as he will never know what would have happened if he took the other path. Musicians film The Pursuit of Happiness portrays the concept of an inner Journey through its protagonist Chris Gardener.A defining moment in Chrisms Journey is when he passes by a stock broking firm and learns of an internship which hed like. In this scene Nuncio uses calm uplifting euphony to symbolism the opportunity which has arrived Chrisms Journey. A viceroy accompanie s this scene where Chris says, They all looked so damn happy, why couldnt I look like that. Although over 500 applicants plied for the internship and only 20 get in Chris decides to take a risk by applying and in doing so misses the opportunity to sell his bone density scanner which would have been used to pay the rent. When Chris takes the risk of becoming an intern and later becomes a stockbroker he had to overcome many problems such as homelessness, unemployment and being a single parent but in overcoming these obstacles, he gained a sense of identity and became fulfilled. Nuncio also uses the cinematic technique of close ups to show the difficulty of risks. When Chris finds out that his internship is unpaid the camera closes in straight onto Chrisms face and all music suddenly stops. This is very hard-hitting in showing an obstacle in Chrisms Journey. Again, like Frosts poem, this adds to the idea of decision making and risk winning and thereby enhances the audiences perception of the grammatical cases Journey. Both of these texts are affective in their uses of techniques to express the concept of effective technique as it allowed the audience to see how difficult decisions in a Rooney are made and gives an insight to what and how the character feels about this decision.Frosts poem, I believe, is open to so many different readings that may add to a responders confusion. In studying the concepts of Journeys through my two chosen texts I have extended my knowledge and found out that Journeys involve risks and obstacles, however, if you overcome these aspects you become a better person. As David Viscose said, If your life is ever spill to get better, youll have to take risks. There is simply no way you can grow without taking chances.

Group Roles and Norms Essay

Explicit norms be rules that are clearly stated. Implicit norms are hard for people with difficulty with socially-based learning. Roles within groups are different tasks that different people perform and the peculiar(prenominal) accomplishments each is expected to attain (Baron, Branscombe & Byrne, 2009, p. 384). An example of an hard-core role is a professor for a class. The students in the class play the explicit role in the course. The professors role is to guide and boot their students. An implicit role that students have is that they are just as likely to have a expectant deal to offer to the class as a group if the professor can create a safe, accepting environment that encourages the free exchange of ideas.Norms are rules established by groups which define acceptable and insufferable behaviors (Baron, Branscombe & Byrne, 2009, p. 387). Horne (2004) specifically focuses on the sanctions which administer the rules. An explicit norm for the classroom is that the student s come prepared to class, as the roles are clearly stated in the syllabus. An implicit norm is that students have to come to class prepared.Students take on to enforce the implicit norm by letting the instructor know they are prepared for class. An explicit norm is the length of time for classes. The class can deviate from the implicit norm while adhering to the explicit norm that classes will meet the whole length of class time. Some of the initial consequences to deviating from the implicit norm which students are that they wish the professor will follow their body language to let class out early. This reinforces the explicit norm that they will come to class prepared, violating their implicit norm that they will not participate in class. The professor can uses a form of sanctioning called Jeopardy. Professors can have students clear their desk so that students cannot attempt to enforce the implicit norm that class will dismiss early. Rewards are provided by group assessments. Cre ating accountability, both(prenominal) to the group and to oneself by creating a grading system that balances group work, daily grades, and tests is the best way to get wind a fairly smooth and regular routine to the classroom. Students unwilling to meet these explicit norms will ideally move on quickly to other courses where the implicit norms are more likely to be met or choose to adjust their behavior.ReferencesBaron, R. Financing Strategy Essay

There atomic number 18 m all alternatives for expansion for a privately held guild. The Huffman truck Company has options to expatiate the operations of the business. The three best options that the firm faces atomic number 18 passage public through an IPO, acquiring some other organization in the same industry, or confluence with another organization. With each of these being a possibility, there are some aspects that must be taken into learnation. starting line there are readinesss of the option, as well as weaknesses. Each option also comes with its own opportunities as well as threats, which must not be over looked. While there are pros and cons to any finish that lead be made as far as going forward is concerned, expanding operations is imperative to staying competitive in the business world this day in age. Weighing each option will allow The Huffman Trucking Companys decision makers to come to the best conclusion when move forward.Going Public through an IPOAn initial public pass (IPO) is a member in which a private association issues shares of stock to the public for the first time. Often times this process is k forthwith as going public. Regardless of how people refer to it though, it is extremely valuable for Huffman Trucking to consider this option for further expansion (Encyclopedia Of Business, 2013). The strength in this approach is that it could generate revenues that do not micturate to be paid back. The initial purchasers of the stock are buying a division of the follow in hopes that the value will increase. Huffman Trucking skunk thus use those funds to purchase new equipment, hire more employees, and more importantly to expand their service area in the fall in States. However, there are weaknesses in this decision. The current possessorship and management would lose a great push-down stack of decision making power for the conjunction. In an instant, the full(a) management team would have a sort out of stockholde rs to answer to. The knowledge savvy that got Huffman Trucking to where it is would become secondary to the whims of the stock holders. The opportunities of this approach are many, nevertheless primarily, it would put Huffman Trucking on the map. Increasing the recognition and reputation ofthe guild good deal go a long way to increasing revenues. Also, going public would create a financing climate for the union that would provide even more opportunity to gain investment monies (when needed) for further growth. The major threat of this decision is that current ownership and management would be thrown out. If the stockholders felt that they knew better for the company, steps could be taken to get rid of any bingle deemed detrimental to the company. This could mean that in a matter of years the original owner and every member of the original management team could be removed from the company. getting another scheme in the Same IndustryAnother option for Huffman Trucking is to acquire another organization in spite of appearance the trucking industry. Huffman trucking can already credit some of its growth in the past to acquiring other businesses, though each case is unlike and its important to consider the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats associated with another acquisition.Acquiring another business can help Huffman Trucking to increase their efficiency and business. This is a known strength for acquiring another business, because they already have a location that they cover as well as a customer base, and their name is known, associating Huffman Trucking with that name will help their customers tactile property comfortable offering their business to Huffman. Depending on how Huffman is already staffed, a weakness of acquiring another business could be manner of speaking on to many employees, or even having to let some of that companys current employees go. If Huffman brings on those employees they have to make sure they have enough business to pay for all of their labor, and if they have to obliterate those employees it can give the company a negative public image for cutting jobs. There are countless opportunities when acquiring another company in the same industry. It all depends on how the specific company handles the acquisition. One major opportunity is unlimited growth, if the acquisition goes well for both companies than Huffman will probably have the chance to acquire other businesses inside the same industry and continue to grow. A threat would be that there is really no guarantee how the other company will handle the acquisition. There could be negative publicity or issues with current employees if Huffman doesnt handle the situation appropriately from the beginning.Merging Organizations many another(prenominal) times, a company like Huffman Trucking strengthly can build strength by merging with other organizations. Careful consideration and planning needs to take place before simply nosedive into any vent ure however, if the company were to mesh itself with a company that is already holding itself upright, Huffman Trucking potentially could have more to offer its customers. In combination with the diverse serve Huffman already provides, it can expand on these services. Especially, if Huffman aligns itself with another well-known company, consumers could still get their needs met by the former company term also being introduced to the products and services offered by Huffman. In relation, if Huffman shares nearby territories with other companies that offer similar services, it may be a wise move to merge the companies into one entity. It is smart to merge with, successful companies if the services complement each other. The acquiring company would have access to a new market and an already established customer base (NFIB, 2013, P. 1). In this instance Huffman would serve as the main interrogativequarters the head honchos taking over. Combining similar companies together potentiall y can ignite more power as a union, reinforcing the strength in numbers concept. Merging is a way to encourage growth it can be looked upon as a way to open up new channels and new markets (NFIB, 2013, P.1). at times companies experience down times, mostly because of market trends. On their own, they simply would lose steam and eventually happen into financial despair, unless another company chooses to offer a life raft. In these instances, a large company may swoop in and buy out the struggling company. The endeavor can prove to be fruitful if the larger company is successful at not only turning around wampum for the struggling company but also building onto its own. Acquiring additional assets also helps to make a large company look better to investors.Huffman Trucking initially may desire to keep everything the same. It may even promise that employees will not lose their jobs. The reality, however for any successful merger, is that change is required and some employees will be let go. If Huffman attempts to retain too many employees it sets itself up for failure as the synergy processes can become strained. Within a given organization, only so many associates are needed to fill the necessary departments. The action of merging with other companies automatically reveals the existence of several different departments of employees doing the same type of work.Huffman will have to determine how many workers are needed to fill these positions and then layoff, or relocate the rest. Larger companies merging with other large, successful companies may merge more smoothly with minimal layoffs, and such(prenominal) a condition would be ideal. The merging endeavor could unfortunately cause a temporary downward trend in stock prices. Huffman may be tempted to get cocky with prices because it is now owner of many smaller entities. It may would reason that since it offers products widely sought by consumers that pricing rests only if within their whim. Consumers, howev er, may rebel when confronted by increased costs as they seek cheaper product alternatives within the marketplace (Rimm & Media, Wint). The opportunities are numerous when a merger is successful. deuce well-financed, profitable companies potentially can exponentially increase their net worth by joining forces. Keeping lines of communication open among the entire company promotes enthusiasm from workers old and new. Acquiring companies can benefit from the broader customer base in conjunction it can often decrease expenses as they produce more of their own brand.Although the reality exists that some employees will be let go, there also lays potential risks. Customer service may suffer as employees tone less motivated to go out of their way to help clients and shoppers (Rimm & Media, Wint). A gradually weakening hands fueled by employee stress and weakened morale will eventually equal the face of the entire company. Many merger efforts actually discourage employees from seeking emplo yment elsewhere, as they want the merger process to unfold smoothly. This is no way guarantees job security for workers long-term. Consequently, some employees will be intolerant toward the unknown. They feel unmotivated. Turnover is sure to spread among departments. As departments begin to weaken, remaining workers may start to feel the overindulge of added work load. During the merger, the company is unlikely to hire replacement workers right away. The overall spirit within the company may slowly deteriorate as result.Another potential threat is an already weak company deciding to merge with another weak company, assuming that combining the two will induce success. Two broke companies will seldom find success together. More than likely, they simply will fail as one unit.Huffman Trucking should consider several factors when choosing to pursue an international location. Financial decisions for Huffman Trucking will be affected by the decision to branch out into international markets . The usual factors that Huffman Trucking takes into consideration in the planning efforts of supply and demand will include new risks. These risks will include unanticipated commodity price shocks, volatile exchange rates, and unexpected supply disruptions as a result of forces beyond our controls, such as physical disasters and terrorist attacks (Neuman, 2005).The company should consider interest rates as this will affect the exchanges from one currency to another. Employment levels and economic growth expectations will also potentially affect exchange rates. hike unemployment in another country could bring the value of that countrys currency down, thus creating a less favorable exchange rate. The same is true for general economic conditions. If a countrys economy is not growing interest rates are likely rising and potentially affect exchange rates as well.Another factor Huffman Trucking should consider when choosing a location for potential international expansion is the trade balance of the other country as well as its policy-making and regulatory structure. A country wants to maintain a positive trade balance to keep a favorable demand for its currency. The political structure within a foreign country needs to be strong to help protect the investments of Huffman Trucking. The foreign country should possess clearly defined regulations. Strong regulations will also help protect the companys investments. These critical factors will aid Huffman Trucking is ascertain where international expansion aligns with their operations. Each of the choices before Huffman Trucking are valid and each has its own strengths and weaknesses. It is important to note that expansion is an important part of successful business, but not necessarily a requirement. Huffman Trucking must decide if negative side effects of any of these choices is worth the gain.

Does it make sense to believe in life after death? Essay

In this essay I will be arguing that you fuel almost make no sense to believe in smell before and after devastation and that in that location is no humanly logical elan of proving either side of the argument.Plato acts on the words of his teacher, Socrates, and how he considered the soul to be separate from the body but linked until death. He says that the soul influences how we behave and tries to didder us from bodily desires. He says that the soul moves from one body to other when death occurs and to be natural into subsequent bodies. This is a good indication from Plato to show feel after death because he says the life of the soul is everlasting like an infinite line or a circle.Plato said that the soul is do up from three parts the Logos, which is the mind and allows logic to prevail. Thymos is emotion and drives us to do heroic acts of heroism and courage. Eros equates to the appetite that drives humankind to seek out its basic bodily needs. There is no scientific management of proving life after death with this theory is correct and no way of proving it incorrect so it would be false to say that Platos theory is wrong because it do sense for Plato because they were his ethics, it would be big(p) to say that someones ethics were wrong because they arent like yours.Aristotles view except is quite similar in the characteristics but the cin one casept of an everlasting soul to him makes no sense because he believed in the soul being created at birth and dying at death. This doesnt correspond with Plato because he said that the souls come from the Forms (which is space-less and timeless) so the soul mustiness also last forever. Aristotle believed that the soul wasnt made from physical tissue but of powers or skill, so therefore pointless talk about detachment from the body because it just wasnt logical. The flaw in this statement is that it is impossible to connect meta-physics with logic so there is no way to measure, see, touch or knowing what the answer is.Thomas Aquinas once said that the soul has the appetite for knowledge because he said, since the intellectual soul is capable of knowing all material things, and since in order to know a material thing there must be no material thing within it, the soul was definitely not connected and that it was an individual spiritual substance and that it could survive on its own. Aquinas said that the soul is subsistant and therefore cant die with the body and cant be born with it. This is like saying the soul doesnt pull down exist in this form of life properly and only exists partly with your body and outside it. illusion Hick, a 20th century philosopher said that life after death is no where near incontrovertible but he said that a rational person would be able to accept it. fast one Hick discussed a theory he had that when you die, your separated soul and body will resurrect and be re-united in a new and glorified form. The example he uses is that he is giving a bothe r in London at 200pm and died at that exact moment, his living tissue and soul were transported to raw York in a new and glorified form at 200.0000001pm (London time) giving the exact identical speech as he was in London. Once again there is no rational way of explaining life before and after death because the soul isnt a rational thing.A philosopher, Derek Parfit created a scenario where in the future and teleportation device was created to transport a person from one place to another without whatsoever physical movement from the person or anyone or anything around that person. The teleportation device copied your living tissue and youre DNA and even your thoughts and memories. Once the copying stage is complete, the machine will disintegrate your body and a machine at the receiving end will create an exact replica of you with everything perfectly the same (a clone). If you had through with(p) this 100 times and then one time it didnt work to plan and it would take 30 minutes to incinerate you, you would see an exact replica of you at the other teleportation receiver. Which one are you another person would ask, but the answer would be neither of them because the real person would be the very low gear incinerated person because only clones were created afterwards. I think this is one of the most valid arguments because he uses knowledge and uncouth sense in his story but doesnt explain where the soul went.I think that there is no logical way of making sense of life after death because to have sense, you must have proof and because there is no proof of and sides of the arguments arent logical there is no way of making sense of them. I think that it is still rational be open to the concept of life after death.

Obesity - Essay ExampleThe success of obesity-reducing strategies is highly unlikely without the consumption of research as a foundational tool in the design process. A 2012 matter by Epstein and colleagues examines cardinal different approaches to childhood obesity intervention designs. The researchers conducted this research with the goal of illuminating differences in several solvent measures between groups based on the focus of the intervention being either a reduction in high energy-dense food consumption, or an increase in alimentary components with low energy density. A hoi polloi of additional variables were also included in the analysis, and are described below. This study primarily relies on the function of inferential statistics, though a number baseline descriptive measurements (age, gender, height, freight, percent overweight, body mass index, and diet trends) are appropriately added to the report. The primary dependent variable in this experiment is the change in standardized body mass index (zBMI) associated with each group, as measured at three different succession periods following the implementation of an intervention program (0-6 months, 0-12 months, and 0-24 months). Secondary dependent variables were also evaluated at these intervals, including changes in consume behaviors like food choices, and the results of questionnaires related to parenting changes. The independent factor in this study was the dietary focus on either reducing high energy-dense food consumption, or increasing low energy-density ingestion. The population of focus for this study was composed only of children between the ages of eight and twelve who are able to read above a grade three level, are in a percentile higher than the 85th of the BMI average, are non currently on other weight loss treatments including pharmaceuticals, hand over parents who are not in weight loss programs, have at least one parent willing to participate in the study, and dont have any ph ysical or psychological

The (PSP) pascal land Police was the model for the (DSP) Delaware put in Police - Research Paper ExampleThe labor struggles related to mines and firebrand mills were the sign reason that Pennsylvania decided to organize an official practice of law force with comprehensive jurisdiction during the early 1900s. (PSP-HEMC, 2011) As the Pennsylvania State Police Historical, Educational and Memorial Center writes in their history of the force The turning point came in 1902 with what became known as The Great Anthracite Strike. It began may 15 and lasted until October 23. The violence disrupted the peace of seven counties and caused a nationwide coal shortage, driving up the price of anthracite coal. The strike did not end until President Theodore Roosevelt intervened. During the strikes subsequentlymath, it was finally recognized that peace and shape should be maintained by regularly appointed and responsible officers employed by the public. This led to the constitution of the P ennsylvania State Police. (PSP-HEMC, 2011) Initially there was fear among organize labor and early(a) liberal part of bon ton that the Pennsylvania State Police force would be used as a mystic army, and because of this the initial force was limited to around 225 men divided into four divisions and tasked with the security of the state. (PSP-HEMC, 2011) These four initial divisions were related to the geographical areas Troop A, Greensburg Troop B,. WilkesBarre (later moved to Wyoming) Troop C, Reading Troop D, Punxsutawney . The historical society also reports that the Pennsylvania State Police force was originally limited to unmarried men, and this continued until after WWII. (PSP-HEMC, 2011) The four troop divisions were commanded by a Police Superintendent and under the authority of the Governor of the State of Pennsylvania. Within 20 years of its founding, the size of the PSP doubled due to the need for police with the increasing universe of discourse and modernization of t he country. In 1920, the PSP instituted a Police Training Academy and bought a number of push backcycles for the officers to use in policing the long distances of the districts. These characteristics can be seen as identifying the important aspects of the Pennsylvania State Police The use of uniforms, badges, weapons, & other symbols of authority similar to the Army. The use of military organization and command structures within the police force. The jurisdictional acknowledgement of authority and the limitation of powers to a district. The use of training academies to recruit and drill members in the standards of the group. The use of motorcycles and motor vehicles to patrol the area the force is tasked to enforce. In viewing these characteristics as fundamental to the model on which the Pennsylvania State Police force was formed and operated, it can be seen how other states modeled their own police forces on this same pattern during the early part of the 20th century. Pennsylvani as political and heathenish influence was stronger over the rest of the country during that era than it is now, with the wealth of steel and mining generating swift sparing growth and population expansion. Other states looked to Pennsylvania for leadership and the labor struggles there would influence the union heading in other parts of the country as well. Mines and factories had used Pinkertons as a type of organized private police force to combat organized labor strikes and riots, but as the economic interests of the industrialists were deep-seated in the political authority of the governor, they could also trust the State to protect their capital

Using Hydraulic Fracturing for Hydrocarbon Extraction Research Paper

Using hydraulic Fracturing for Hydrocarbon stemma - Research Paper ExampleWhile this process is a simple in principle, the geological differences at the good site affects the exact fracturing process hence raises both safety and efficiency concerns (Golden, John and Hannah, 998).Hydraulic fracturing was commercially explored for the first time in Velma, Oklahoma by Halliburton in the year 1949 to extract swash from limestone deposits. Since then, there have been several technological advancements especially in 1980s that resulted to the discovery of diamond-studded drill bits and level drilling. These technological advancements opened room for gas access in shale formations thus resulted into what is today known as shale gale (Bolonkin, Joseph and Shmuel, 234). Benefits of Hydraulic fracturing as a technology cannot be underestimated given the adverse effects of burning burn and generating nuclear energy. Research shows that Hydraulic fracturing accounts for more than 70% of the development of natural gas which will let down cost of manufacturing and increase operatement opportunities (Middleton et al, 505).Hydraulic fracturing is inevitable as well as a vital position of many countries energys policy due to its tremendous economic benefits and is estimated that the industry will employ over one million users in the US by 2025 (Middleton et al, 506). However, it is estimated that the cost of a gas well ranges between 2.5 and 3 million dollars depending on the area, local taxes, depth of formation as well as other effects of operating costs such as fresh water availability, equipment and transportation bit the United States energy information estimates the costs at about 5.3 million dollars (Middleton et al, 505). This is high compared to the other methods of fall but economical in the short run.Despite the many benefits of Hydraulic fracturing, the process poses serious risks to the humankind health and quality of fresh water. Does this signal the beginning of the end of the audio CD? Explain. Now that music can be comfortably down loaded from the Internet, it seems that audio CDs are actually in danger of extinction just like those vinyl LPs of old cartridge clips. Young people today are incapable of listening to one livelong album due to the short attention span they have. The consumers of the world today cannot be forced to bargain for one whole album when what they want is just that one song or music they can download from the Internet so easily (Mea gher, 2009).4. Todays continuous speech- reference systems are able to watch spoken words more accurately when the exploiter talks in phrases. Why would this approach be more accurate than discrete speech where the user speaks one word at a time with a slight separation between words? There are two types of speech recognition software the discreet and continuous. The latter is the latest technology that is capable of reading the speech which is spoken continuously. idiom recognition is definitely helpful tool for professionals and students who are doing a lot of typing, but it is also a helpful tool for people with disability. Multigenre paper Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

Multigenre paper - Essay ExamplePower is straightaway vested in institutions and not individuals, further, these institutions are designed in a way that allows them to manage and check the places borne by every institution. However, the absence of a particular example in modern day does not ungenerous such examples never existed, on the contrary, there are a myriad of such examples. One critical lesson to be learnt from the living power contexts is that it only leads to vicious, ruthless, and corrupt leadership. This research takes interest in the life of Al Capone his is an example of a man born in poverty and rose to become the head of a vicious vicious gang in Chicago, actually, head of crime in Chicago (Bardsley). Through him the clip shift of a man by power is manifest and the result of having greater power is obvious. Review Al Capone was a Chicago mobster, one of the most talked about gang leaders in the history of joined States. However, Al Capones life was not entirel y laden with crime he had started off as an honest young boy, who sought to lead a decent life like his father, who ran a barbershop. His attempt to lead a balanced life was disrupted by deuce men Johnny Torrio and Frankie Yale (Balsamo 8). twain men were gang leaders with the only difference being their means of managing their criminal activities. Torrio was a diplomatic and a shrewd businessman who silently and wisely expanded his criminal activities (Lorrizo 24). He was the first criminal leader Al Capone worked under and had a chance to interact and learn from. The other was Yale Yale was a inhuman man who expanded his criminal reach through brute and murder. Al Capone had a chance to work under him as well. However, it was through Torrio that Al Capone honed his criminal life, as expected he had learnt from two extremes and he never shied from implementing the lessons from his mentors (Eig-WSJ). Being shrewd and brutal allowed for his fast expansion owning brothels, gambling houses and bootlegging businesses in officious succession (Knight 54). This built up his empire fast enough and allowed him a lot of power. Unlike his prefer mentor, Torrio, Al Capone led a more public life which meant his actions were much more publicized than Torrios (Capone 29). Under his leadership, following Johnny Torrios retirement, Al Capone became a target by rival gangs and by Chicagos authority. This fact seemed to make him more brutal and unforgiving a characteristic of absolute power. His monster side was defined by two events one was when he ordered the murder of his two sworn enemies in 1926 and when he masterminded St. Valentines Day massacre in 1929 (Capone 52). Both of these events dealt a major(ip) blow to his reputation and provided a leeway for his prosecution (Eig 321). He was duly sentenced on June 1931 and committed to 11 years in prison (Al Capone Museum). Comparison Al Capones turnaround from an honorable childhood to a vicious gang leader reads like a t ale. However, it is a true reflection of what unchecked power would do to an individual. His rise and subsequent fall is reminiscent of Shakespeares Macbeth. Macbeth is a play about an army general who served diligently and led conquests for the king only to be misguided by witches and his personal ambitions and kinship for power. He ended up killing his king and together with his evil wife masterminded other deaths of presumable heirs and likely opposition

Labor Unions Differences could Affect Company Operations Essay

Labor Unions Differences could Affect Company Operations - Essay ExampleFrom this melodic theme it is clear that power distance in a country like the ground forces and the UK is small, compared to the power leaving in countries like Japan and France. This being the case, while it would be easier for the workers in nations such as the UK and the USA to interact openly with the managers and discuss issues affecting them, the works in nations such as Japan and France may not go to the management to discuss their matters. What this simply means is that while it would be easier to resolve the churn issues in countries like the UK and USA through direct management involvement, it may be a s of a challenge to address such issues in countries like France and Japan, which will most often way out to labor union actions, as opposed to direct involvement with the management. The subordinates in countries like Japan and France unendingly perceive the superiors in a different light and fo r that reason may not seek to shackle with them directly. Therefore, the management might experience much labor union problems in countries like Japan and France, as opposed to the USA and the UK. In this respect, it would be more than appropriate for the management to adapt a more autocratic management system in a country like Japan, while adapting a more open and participatory management style in countries like the USA, UK and France, to avoid the possible labor and labor union problems associated with the power.

Victor Davis Hanson's The Civic Education America Needs Essay

schoolmaster Davis Hansons The Civic Education America Needs - Essay ExampleHe further argues that among the factors, which hinder polite information, is the presence of scholar uncertainty where they have no subject pride, thus making them lose the portion of social cohesion (Forment 451). The scholars in turn join college without self-assurance, hence vulnercapable to all fallacies about the American practice. Victor withal has his argument on the catastrophic changes in the privileged society, peculiarly from the universities, which have trickled ware to the schools. He puts that polite knowledge in this schools has declined over the last thirty years. He says that the ideas from the elites of these universities are characterized as being anti-moral to polite education. He further asserts that the ideas of multiculturalism, dictatorial, intellectual, and ethical relativism disseminated from the top universities through the fourth estate and politicians, greatly undermin e the civic education program. Victor further argues that multiculturalism, allowed to the etiquette of the underclass, changed the conduct of the youthful people (Forment 452). He believes that to even off this elite culture from undermining the process of civic education, there is need to cultivate and re-visit the common values and national story of America. Furthermore, Victor Davies argues that the conceit of the Enlightenment, which threatens to eliminate the available, shared pathologies, is a cause of concern in promoting the civic education in America. The segregation and undermining of women plays a key role in disheartenment of efforts to foster the civic education in America. He puts forward that civility, which to many is merely convection, has to become a tool for carrier bag of the people (Nelles 264). He observes that civility was an oppressive phenomenon of the 1950s, an era punctuated by subdued sexual issues like inhuman treatment of women, minorities and the y oung people. These were to remind the women that they were the weaker sex and they had no place in the society. The treatment, according to Victor also wanted to show the youth that they were tacit. It comes evident when the learners of age 20 claim that they owe nothing in terms of morals to the older generation. They further claim that the old generation need to get precipitous thoughts from them, which to Victor undermines the role of civic education (Forment 454). Victor argues that gone are the days when a soul took concern of the greater humanity, other than the individualistic nature. He advocates for a kind ofcitizenshipeducation where one is head by the values and not obligated by attachments. Victor further proposes that the American system of education should embrace the idea of citizenship, which will cultivate an individual guided by rights and the broader humanity. This, to Victor can sour up students who are responsible and guided by morals (Nelles 265). Through t his, teachers will be able to correct students who mess up and also enable students to learn the values, which will promote civic education in the primary schools. On the other completion, this will not be fruitful in implementing, especially when the teachers and parents fail to lead as examples to the kids. in addition, teachers may lack the moral and intellectual authority and end up behaving like their learners in their behavior (Nelles 266). The idea of the citizenship, also promotes teamwork especially in sports. This teamwork enhances
